labor day weekend

Labor Day weekend was so eventful! I was able to escape the City and head to Dallas to visit my parents and brother. It turns out it was such a good weekend to do it, because San Francisco had record breaking heat, hitting over 100 degrees! Now, I lived in Arizona for 5 years, so hitting over 100 doesn't sound THAT bad to me, BUT most apartments in San Francisco don't have air conditioning, so in this case, it sounded miserable (#death). Jared was watching Cappy, and I got lots of photo updates on how they were surviving the heat - he even put ice cubes in her water bowl (insert heart eyes here)! Best catsitter ever.
Dallas was so fun, and I loved getting to spend time with everyone. My biggest priority was to make sure I got a giant bowl of queso before I went home. San Francisco has one of the best food scenes in the country, but queso is nowhere to be found in the 7X7 square. So I checked that box, and got to do some shopping with mi madre. I've discovered that all I look for in clothing now is whether I can layer it (hello weird SF weather), and if it's super functional. Zara really came through for me (why have I never shopped there before?!), and I got a few really cute jackets, including the yellow one I wore to the beach below!
I came back Sunday, just in time to take advantage of the rest of the 3-day weekend. On Monday, Jared and I took a drive up to Stinson Beach and people watched for the afternoon. I had never been before, but from what I've heard, it usually takes FOREVER in traffic to make it to the actual beach. We got really lucky, and were able to get straight there, with front row parking!
At the end of the weekend, Jared sent me a screenshot showing that it's been TWO YEARS since the first time I came out to visit him. I never would have guessed that that trip would turn into something much bigger! The places he took me to visit and see are now literally around the corner from my house. What a trip!
